Nail Fungal Infection Do’s and Don’ts
About 10% of the population suffers from nail fungus infections. Follow these important steps to help prevent nail fungal infections, speed up their healing process, or reduce their recurrence:
- Wash hands and feet regularly and dry them thoroughly.
- Keep nails short and clean.
- Don’t walk barefoot in public areas.
- Wear cotton socks and change them daily.
- Avoid using your nails as a tool to open or unscrew anything as this may stimulate the fungal growth beneath the nails.
- Wear rubber gloves when dealing with food, water, dirt, oil and chemicals, etc.
- Choose salons that don’t share tools and only use sterilized tools for manicures or pedicures.
- Avoid wearing nail polish or artificial nails at first sight of a possible nail fungal infection.
- Treat a nail fungus infection as early as possible to avoid more serious problems or permanent damage to the nails.

Athletes with Olympic Rings Tattoos
The London 2012 Olympics have entered their 5th day. In the past few days, tattoos have become a part of the Olympic phenomenon. And the Olympic rings, the logo representing the continents of Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Europe, is one of the most popular tattoos proudly shown on many of the athletes bodies.
Athletes have the Olympic rings etched into their skins for different reasons. Some are simply inspired and like to show their passion to the Olympic spirit; some want to reveal an incredible experience or to remember a glorious moment; others wish to express their patriotism — they usually get the Olympic rings inked along with their country’s name or flag.
Though many people realize that tattoos could eventually become a regret and require multiple tattoo removal procedures later on, more Olympic athletes, Olympic fans and Olympic hopefuls continue to get inked. And the Olympic rings tattoo is definitely one of the most popular, garnering tons of attention from friends, family and fans. The following are just some of our picks among a huge list of athletes sporting Olympic tattoos

The Top Five Reasons for Tattoo Removal
Though the art of tattooing has become more popular and even mainstream, there are many people who begin to suffer from tattoo remorse. The following is what we have discovered to be the top five reasons for ridding yourself of that once cherished tattoo:
1. Trouble in Paradise?
At Q Esthetics, we perform thousands of laser tattoo removal each year and having a past partners name removed tops our list. The unfortunate reality of a break-up is hard enough without having a constant reminder of your Ex inked on your body. Some say that lovebirds may do this on impulse but should consider it the kiss of death. We definitely believe in love but it would be wise to think twice before having Mr or Misses Wrong forever displayed for the whole world to see.
2. Want that Dream Job?
Many people experience an unfair disadvantage when it comes to job-hunting because they have a visible tattoo. While discreet and modest tattoos are acceptable at most organizations some companies may frown upon noticeable body art. Losing the chance to land your dream job before you even open your mouth can be avoided and is a close second to our top reason.
3. Not so Cool Anymore?
People tend to follow trends. Unfortunately, change is inevitable and what you had considered to be cool years ago may now seem unappealing. We are all too familiar with this popular phrase: I’m in my forties and this was so cool in my twenties, but now I want it gone!
4. Looking for a Fresh Start?
Let’s go back to what was said, change is inevitable, and this includes ones lifestyle. Everything changes over time and the need for self-discovery and improvement is an essential part of life. Lifestyle change often involves letting go of unsavory habits, a recent marriage, a new career path, children or newly acquired beliefs and spirituality.
5. Not Exactly What You Had Envisioned?
Tattooing is considered an art form, however, some artists may not be as skilled and precise as assumed. Sometimes the wrong design, mistaken positioning or poor skill level of the artist will cause dreaded tattoo remorse. A poorly applied tattoo could be a daily reminder of that unhappy experience.
Fortunately, you don’t have to live with those unwanted tattoos. Laser Tattoo Removal can give you that peace of mind by drastically reducing the appearance of tattoos on all skin types.

Sunscreens and their SPF #s
With sunny summer days already here, a lot of our clients are asking questions about different sunscreens and what does a higher SPF really mean.
High SPF numbers can be misleading, as an SPF of 30 is not twice as protective as an SPF of 15. When used properly, an SPF of 15 protects the skin from 93% of UVB radiation, an SPF 30 97% and an SPF 65 98% protection. SO, the difference between SPF of 30 and 65 is really 1%!!
The SPF number is really an imperfect way of measuring “how long” we can stay in the sun before getting burned! For example if it takes 10 minutes for unprotected skin to show redness, then an SPF15 sunscreen correctly applied, will take 15 times as long or 150 minutes to burn & SPF 30 will take 30 times as long or 300 minutes, etc…
In reality, it is rare for a person to achieve this exact level of protection as factors like how much you apply, the weather and even your skin type will affect your level of protection.
Enjoy the beautiful weather and have a great long weekend everyone!
