Wart Treatment Toronto

Wart treatment is one of the most common procedures at Q Esthetics Laser Clinic. Warts are benign skin growths caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Warts are usually skin coloured and have a raised appearance, but can also be dark, flat and smooth. Warts can be painful, irritating or cosmetically unwanted.

Warts may spread from person to person by direct or indirect contact, and may also spread from one area of the body to another. Individuals with weakened immune systems may be more susceptible. Warts are common in children and young people, but rare in adults.

Common Warts – usually appear around the fingernails and on the back of the hands, but can grow anywhere.

Plantar Warts/Foot Warts – usually found on the soles of feet. Plantar warts often grow into the deeper layer of skin due to the pressure from walking and standing. Walking around public areas barefoot increases your risk of developing plantar warts.

Flat Warts – can occur anywhere but are found generally on the face, forehead, and legs. Flat warts tend to grow in large numbers.

Wart Treatments

Natural Wart Treatment – these liquids, tapes and creams that most often contain salicylic acid are usually used at home. But it is important that you consult a doctor before trying to remove your warts at home. Unfortunately, about 90% of our patients with are those who have had negative experience with the wart removal of home remedies. Some found they simply didn’t work; some received unsightly scarring.

Wart Treatment with Prescribed Medications – remove warts by disrupting or destroying the warts cells, but they also kill normal cells in the process, so caution should be exercised especially when treating children and expectant mothers. Risks also include scarring or contamination caused by improper use.

Cryotherapy Wart Treatment – freezes warts off. The results of cryotherapy wart treatment depend greatly on the performer’s skill and experience. The cure rate is very low for deep lesion. Risks include scarring or blistering of normal skin in the surrounding areas due to over freezing, or spreading of the lesions caused by under freezing and contamination.

Laser Wart Treatment

At Q Esthetics Laser Clinic, we offer laser wart treatment in conjunction with electrocautery wart treatment to remove different types of warts such as plantar warts and periungual warts. The energy delivered by the Palomar Nd:Yag laser is selectively absorbed by the blood cells of warts. Targeting the wart’s blood supply can lead to a regression of the lesion. Localized stimulation of the immune system by the laser light plays a great role in eliminating resistant warts. The electrocautery uses the heat of electrical current to burn away stubborn warts.
