Laser Skin Tightening can achieve non-surgical skin tightening with minimal pain, no down time. It smoothes wrinkles and tightens loose skin using light energy to stimulate new collagen growth deep beneath skin's surface. Large amount of collagen exists in the dermis. Collagen fibers are responsible for maintaining the strength and resilience of skin. As we age, the collagen fibers start to break down and the dermis gets thinner, bringing visible wrinkles and sagging.

A six month prospective study (published in Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2007) suggests that Fractional IR is an effective modality for skin tightening. The Palomar LuxDeepIR Fractional™ handpiece delivers infrared light deep into the dermis (up to 6mm). This light causes Soft Tissue Coagulation which leads to remodeling of the collagen within the dermis and hypodermis. The remodeled collagen fills in wrinkles and sagging, thereby tightening skin. In general, once stimulated, the new collagen may last years, hence the prolonged skin tightening results.

What should I expect during/after laser tightening?

A series of 3-5 treatments at 4-6 week intervals may be required to achieve the desired result of smoother, tighter skin in the face, arms, abdomen, and other areas. Results are immediate and progressive. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months.
