Five things to consider when choosing a laser clinic

January 30th, 2010 by Q Pro-team

GTA’s No.1 Choice in non-surgical cosmetic laser treatments!

Nowadays, there are laser clinics everywhere. When looking for the right laser clinic for your specific skin condition, these five key points can help you to avoid unhappy experience:

1. Expertise

Consultations and treatments should be provided or performed by highly trained medical staff and certified experts. When it comes to your health and self-esteem, you deserve to receive services from only qualified professionals!

2. Facilities

Safety, hygiene, and equipment are of utmost importance. There is as pecific laser or device that works best for each condition: hair removal, acne treatment, scar removal, vein treatment, tattoo removal, and so on. Ensure that the clinic uses only the Gold Standard lasers,or FDA approved aesthetic equipment.

3. Experience

The same laser in different hands will do a different job; the same skin lesion shows different conditions to different observers. Not all dermatologists can remove your warts or moles without scarring; a good doctor is not necessarily a good laser hair removal operator. So please check out the professional history of the one who will actually perform the treatment for you and whether or not they will have a tailored plan for your specific needs.

4. Reputation

Does this clinic have good business ethics? Have they ever given false promises? Have they ever had any accidents? Do they provide comprehensive follow-up care for their patients? You can do some homework to get the answers: search the Internet or ask around to see what people are saying about this clinic.

5. Pricing & Financing

Check the cost for your treatment. It may vary from one patient to another depending on many aspects. Choose a clinic that will guarantee competitive pricing compared to others offering equivalent services. Find out if financing options and discounts for multiple procedures are available.

Diet And Acne

February 20th, 2010 by Q Pro-team

foods and acne

Dermatological studies have shown that diet has a significant influence over acne condition. An improper diet could worsen one’s acne symptoms by increasing the imbalance in the body’s digestive system and immune system. People with acne should be careful of what to eat and what not to eat.

During the course of the acne treatment, we strongly recommend reducing your consumption of the following foods:

1. Foods high in iodine such as seafood and onions, etc.

2. Beef and dairy products such as milk, cheese and cream, etc.

3. High glycemic foods such as soft drinks and sweets, etc.

4. Greasy and spicy foods.

5. Alcohol.

But please do not make any drastic changes to your diet without first consulting your medical professional.

Acne drug Accutane can cause rare but potentially fatal reactions: Health Canada

February 16th, 2010 by Q Pro-team

acne drug accutane

OTTAWA  By The Canadian Press - Health Canada is advising consumers that rare but potentially deadly skin reactions have been reported with the use of Accutane for the treatment of severe acne.

In an advisory Tuesday, the federal department said there have been “very rare” reports of severe skin reactions linked to Accutane that can result in hospitalization, disability or even death.

Accutane (isotretinoin), made by Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., is prescribed for serious acne that cannot be cleared up by other treatments, including antibiotics. The skin condition, which mainly affects adolescents, causes pimples, cysts and nodules that most often appear on the face, chest and back.

Health Canada said anyone currently taking or recently on Accutane should stop the drug and see their doctor immediately if any of following symptoms develop:

-Rash, especially if associated with fever and-or malaise or conjunctivitis (red or inflamed eyes, like pink eye).

-Blisters on legs, arms or face, and-or sores in mouth, throat, nose or eyes.

-Peeling skin.

Severe skin reactions can start with mild, non-specific symptoms such as fever, malaise, chills, aching muscles, headache, sore throat or stinging eyes, said Health Canada, noting that it can take up to three days for the skin lesions to develop.

Accutane has been prescribed over the last 25 years to about 16 million people. There have been 66 cases of severe skin reactions reported in both adults and children worldwide. While other factors were involved in the majority of these cases, an association with Accutane cannot be ruled out, the advisory states.

My experience with skin tightening

December 7th, 2009 by Silvia L. from Richmond Hill

I’m in my early 50s, but I’m often embarrassed when people refer to me
as being in my 60s due to my sagging jaws and loose skin on the neck.
So I started to look for solutions to improve my aging appearance and
decided that laser fractional tightening would be a good choice. I
chose Q Esthetics Laser Clinic based on the good reviews about their
services from the Internet.

After only one treatment of skin tightening, I noticed a more elastic
look on my face and neck. After the third treatment, I began to
receive compliments from people, asking what I was doing differently
to make myself look younger. Now my face and neck are much smoother,
tighter and more lifted.

In addition to the treatments, I really appreciate the always
welcoming, caring and professional environment provided by Q Esthetics
staff. That’s why I’d love to recommend Q Esthetics Laser Clinic to
anyone seeking a lasting improvement for their skin appearance.

Story about spider vein removal

December 5th, 2009 by Mary W. from Markham

I started to notice spider veins on my leg in my 50s, which got so
serious that I was embarrassed to show my legs. I went to see
dermatologists and tried many creams and medicines, but none of them
worked. After I read the information about laser spider vein
treatments from the Q Esthetics Laser Clinic web site, I booked a
consultation with Nancy Qiu. Though Nancy addressed all my questions
and concerns, I still felt a little nervous since I was quite
conservative and skeptical about new techs like laser therapy.
So I asked to try one session first. To my big surprise, 6 weeks after
the treatment, I could see a huge difference on my legs, so I called
to book two more sessions. I was very happy with the results and also
recommended my husband to get his sun spots done at Q Esthetics. Thank
you Nancy and all the staff at Q Esthetics!
