Acne Post-treatment Instructions


Acne is an inflammatory skin disorder caused by a number of factors including hormones, stress and the environment. As a result, acne clearing and control is an on-going commitment. Proper skin care is essential. Good hygiene has been shown to improve and maintain acne treatment results, reduce complications and increase patient satisfaction.

  • You must wash their face with a gentle cleanser (pH balanced gel or liquid soap) morning, evening and after any vigorous exercise.
  • Rinse face with cool or warm water. (Do not use hot water as it will activate the oil glands.)
  • All cosmetics such as foundation, blush and moisturizers should be oil free. Products should be labeled as non-comedogenic.
  • Avoid frequent handling of the skin. You should avoid rubbing or touching any lesions on your skin.
  • Acne patients with oily hair should shampoo regularly.
  • If you smoke, quit smoking, because nicotine is believed to be linked to acne.
